awww don't be sad I have to use all three os's :/
I use a mac :(
windows and any Linux based OSes are my fave
First computer was an Apple, first PC in 86, and I've used Linux since Slackware 1 (kernel 0.99.15). Since then, I've gone to using Windows exclusively for Desktop/Gaming Machine, Linux is my server OS of choice, and my Apple MacBook Air? It looks really cool on my end table. I might use it once every two weeks. OSX to me is the bastard stepchild of Windows + BSD.
Replace hot chick with skinnyfat nerd with thick glasses cosplaying a brony and this video would be more accurate.
Apple support will try to charge you for the smallest thing, and attempt to screw you at every step.
Oh please. If you had any idea how to use a computer and were actually a UNIX enthusiast, you'd be using a proper BSD.
Linux could, but consumer distributions are embarrassing. Android will be the Windows killer, simply because Google made shit work and didn't go on about how wonderful and free it was and how you should worship toe-cheese eaters.
Microsoft is more afraid of Linux then they are of Apple. Linux could [potentially] overtake them at any moment. Hell, whenever a company shows interest in Linux [or Apple] Microsoft quickly sends them lots of money. Look at Corel for example-- they were porting their software to Linux when MS made a few deals and Corel pulled its ports.
@SuperMurrayb It is quite sad that Novell chose to fall behind in maintaining their NOS. It is also quite sad that they then decided to basically layer Netware over a copy of Linux for no reason other than they can't be bothered keeping up with hardware compatibility, expecting the Linux community to do it for them.
It is quite sad that Novell chose to drop Netware which was the best NOS I have ever used and chose to go with a version of Linux which left fewer choices than before.
@DawnFailCry Why would that qualify you in any way?
That makes no sense. If anyone were to make a statement on that I'd trust Carmack with it. But even that doesn't make much sense.
An animator is just outrageous though.
This kernel looks good :-)
@ezridaeus I love you. I'm in the same boat as you and I completely agree.
Mac is good for people that have very little knowlegde of computers and d'ont want to have any. Mac OS is the most intuitive. I have to give them that. The problem with Apple is that you HAVE TO accept their way, if you don't you loose.
Windows is the one fits all. Highly adaptable, software and hardware heaven. But Mircrosoft Support sucks. So you better know how to fix your problems or have a phone number of a friend on speed dial.
Linux is best to run professional secure environments.
implying you can buy linux
Linux is for programmers, people that have time and know how to use a computer.
Windows is for the everyday user.
OSX is for hipster retards.
I'm buying a Linux so I can have someone to get me a sandwich
@charmednick steam is working on supporting linux...
A Microsoft ad appeared when I was watching this video. They must be getting desperate.
@james64468 not just video its good for more colouring stuff but totally suck for gaming
@Brett9897 Macs are better for editing vidoes but that my opinion.
Thats not true... I like linux but vista and leopard look really cool... Linux is good but the others look better :)
@ezridaeus I agree with you. I don't know how many people here are casual users and more advanced users. I find that different OSs fill a different need. If I am setting up a home server or programming I usually use Fedora. If I am just messing around, streaming video, or playing games I use Windows 7. I personally haven't found a use for Mac but I am sure there is one. Basically every OS fills a niche or it falls behind and out of favor.
"I'll wear this for another 6 or 7 years." Oh god I lol'd so hard.
@Ocelot152 I have no problem with people choosing what OS they want to use, but I won't just keep quiet when someone puts out misinformation. Saying Linux is too complicated is way too broad of a statement. Linux is just the Kernel. There are many LINUX BASED OSes out there. Some are complicated and some are very simple. And that's what it comes down to.. Opinion. I use Windows 7, Ubuntu, Gentoo and a few other Linux Based OSes. I have a fairly informed opinion.
She doesn't look like Linus Torvalds, for better or worse.
@chrisworld2 OS X = shit Linux = Good shit
GOOO LINUX GOOOO
@LOLOLandaBOTTELofWIN Are you an idiot? Linux is the best OS on the market.
OS X = Unix, Linux = Unix
@Vaughnlesterinoz That's not true.. BSD variants are UNIX-based and so is systems like AIX. Linux is a UNIX-like kernel, which means it's more or less the same user-experience, but the kernel was developed apart from UNIX. The same is true with the Mac OS
@charmednick Just because Linux doesn't have everything you want, doesn't mean it'll never be a perfect fit for someone else. Hust because you had problems with Linux, doesn't mean the hundreds of thousands of long-time daily Linux users are all having problems too.
@ezridaeus you are a pretty cool dude and it sucks you have to argue with that angsty tween
I've used Linux based OSes for the past 10 years. I've used Windows longer than that. Currently I run Windows 7, Vista, and 3 different Linux based distros because those are the ones my clients use and they come to me to fix them when they have a problem. I'm probably in a better position to make that judgement than you.
I didn't "choose" any OS in particular. I enjoy working in all of those that I listed. It's fanboys like you that perpetuate this childish OS flamewar.
Steam is coming for Linux.
personally im a pc but this is like the best ad thingy out there
Mac is based on Linux
i dont like linux :P
@bonchbonch And here I got the impression that you hated Linux.
Shows how much I can tell about people.
@handofstand Yes, it is. What does that have to do with anything?
@bonchbonch Slackware is a Linux distribution, you know.
@handofstand Slackware is based on Linux, which has nothing to do with the original UNIX source code. You're thinking of BSD, which does have ties to the original code. Any other Linux users need to be educated about their operating system? I'm always happy to help.
@handofstand Even the author of ALSA says Linux audio is a mess. I have used Linux. Always been a Slackware fan.
@bonchbonch well there's RedHat and some other big ones but not too many people use those as a desktop OS.
@bonchbonch Wow, you haven't even used Linux.
ALSA, as f*@&ing always.
Debian and Ubuntu are the only ones I use, all of the others are, as you say, putting out fires.
@handofstand How does that make it not a joke? The fact it's been around for 20 years and still hasn't made any headway into the desktop is even more proof that it's a joke. Which sound API are you using this week?
There is nothing to disagree about. I said Linux updates frequently, but there isn't a official release for a skin. Only window changes skins in another version.
Linux = patches ever 2 days
Mac = Major release patch for every HUGE bug
Windows = Patches when every there is an upgrade
Well any operating system can switch skins.
Except the linux distro updates many times in a week, but does not change skins.
I am running Arch Linux right now and have been for almost a year and a half.
I meant the actor playing Linux in the video ;-)
@TommyStarss Macs are engineered to last, that's why they're expensive.
@Joeey hahhh, ha ha haa.
@bonchbonch It might be if if it was new. It isn't, but you ARE a troll. (also not new)
It's been around for 20 YEARS
@themassau Because people aren't willing to switch. Linux is very scalable down to a PC or for server farms but I think hardware companies ONLY look at the Open Source (and get scared).
@nUboon2Age when will evry one use it ? if evryone does than it would be better suported (i know lunix is mostly used in server because you can mostly update whitout rebooting and it gets constantly updated)
Ubuntu 10.04 Linux especially rocks! Gorgeous, Free, Easy to Use, No Windows Viruses. Any questions?
Linux is a complete joke, sorry.
PC owners are just jealous they cant afford a Mac
@godofbw only to put your usb in.....
How is there a comparison between PC, Mac and Linux?
The third is an operating system not a computer.
I don't know about you guys but I would bang Linux.
@theawanonymouscaller Yeah but a mac thats just as good costs like almost twice as much ^^
@storgodt That's because all the good games are made for Windows, and it depends on the Mac you get.
@theawanonymouscaller Graphics? o.O Everyone know the graphics are better on PCs and if someone likes mac its because of the design. Skin your PC. I think you're just another guy who doesn't know what they're talking about when they think Mac is better.
@storgodt I am a long-time Windows user and I never had a problem with navigation and other stuff, but my new Mac has saved me some valuable time since I don't have to fix the problems that constantly came with it. I haven't really tried Linux, and I don't plan to, especially since mac has the most experience with graphics and its so easy to use. Here's my personal list
1. Mac :D
2. PC D:
2. PC D:
It's called Linux always updating, just like the other operating systems.
3. Solaris :D
@theSPUDereHD You do realise OSX is really a variant of Linux right? They are both Unix based. OSX is just controlled by Apple as a closed source OS for distribution with their computers.
@rockingharry2 For gaming, you are right. PC blows Mac out of the water. However, when it comes to things like movies, art, writing, ect. Most people use Mac. Marvel and DC comics only use Mac computers. They're used in music industries and also in the production of cartoons etc. PC=gaming and high business. Mac=Creative works.
@Molo9000 Mac always tries to make they skinn look nice. The interface is ok but its not easier then windows or kde. Because people think it's easier they use it that way. Believe me its not that special. And as for stability linux is as stable as a mac.
Try opensuse with kde looks nice productive easy and functional.
@rockingharry2 mac users want to think they think different. Actually they just join a group. Trying to be with some group who all try to be special making them uh less special.
New invention a Ipad, whats that? well you know those tablet pc's wich were arround for years? Yes? well same idea only then it's a new invention don't ask why.
if you use linux you have to convert a pc
LINUX = SHIT
Both Linux and Windows are big on making a GUI look shiny but the Mac OS GUI is far more usable.
It's very clean, simple and easy to use but at the same time much more efficient.
I prefer working on my Mac (still running 10.5 Leopard) to working on my windows machine running Win 7 even though I have a larger screen on the windows machine.
I haven't spend that much time using Linux but most Linux GUIs I've seen are full of features that only look nice but don't actually increase productivity.
Linux pawns :D
Hot Linux hehe
Girls don't use linux...
@vintagevic1 no not bs it's true anyway i do like ease of use and pcs are easy to use and better grahpics what are u talking about the way the os looks lol? if so then know i dont care too much i would never spend more then a few more bucks for that let alone another $500
Check out the funny Apple spoof I just added to my channel :)
@vintagevic1 wow dude "you dont have to be a programmer to operate one like you do a pc" lol a pc is so simple to use idk how anyone could say u have to be a programmer maybe ur just slow? i dont know any programming and i never had to call anyone to fix anything my 7 year old brother was using one when he was 3 so u are either dumber then a 3 year old or ur statement is false
@EFDos i guess by programers they mean people that know how to do more then press the ON button
@phynyte better hardware and software hmm arent u talking about pcs?
@vintagevic1 stop talking ur making urself look dumb we dont need a repair guy my pc has never crashed and i payed half as much as u did but i got better hardware
@Cowbelltheoneandonly u where right on everything except microsoft selling computers
@phynyte what are u playing at the lowest settings and ress inside a house lol?
@phynyte 2 proccesor = fail except for like servers same goes for 32gb ddr3 4 gefore gt 120 is also fail lol ur much better off with a core i7 870 12gb ddr3 and 1 ati radeon hd 5870
@Cowbelltheoneandonly lol a single 5870 can beat 4 of those gt 120 and quad cores lol the new i7s are much better
@lindseywarwick try doing that on a mac for under 3k lol
no thats bs? mabe on low settings and lower resoultuion mabe, but not at 1280x 800, ive seen benchmarks on crysis with that 9400m, no where near 35-40min fps
better hardware? not really, the mac pros do but their hardware is specialized for hardcore video editing and graphic designing not gaming
@phynyte I totally agree with that, though my experience is that people's preferences are as focused on OS as hardware. Mental association & self-image are even stronger, of course, which is why commercials work. :)
BTW, I learned recently processor speeds haven't actually compared to one another in years, so with all else equal, 2GHz isn't always faster than a 1.6GHz. Wikipedia on Intel's Centrino explains the basic still-applicable issues, if you're interested.
"I'll use this for the next seven years"
@vintagevic1 Mac's are pc's to, pc does not mean windows.
yeah so you can play with your usb connector...
@elridero Linux = programmers?
man, i do every common thing somebody does in windows or mac, with my linux. (multimedia, play games, office and everything else.) Never needed to program anything.
Linux has many distros, some good for server, some good for programmers and some good for end-users .. please, don't generalize.
